At 6 pm, we’ll meet at Praça da República to start a free tour of Tomar. Are you ready to find out more about this curious Portuguese city?
If you look at the ground surrounding this small square, you'll see the traditional tiles that characterise Portugal. Next, we'll stop at the Sao Joao Baptista church to see its delicate Gothic façade and a Manueline-style tower, both of which will surprise you!
We'll continue walking while listening to the stories of the Order of Christ. Did you know that the region of Tomar was the seat of the famous Templars? We'll learn more about these knights before arriving at the Jewish emblem of the city, the Tomar Synagogue, which in the past served as a tribunal for this community.
The tour will then lead us along the Nabão River and the guide will reveal why it played a key role in Tomar's industry. Finally, we'll walk along the Corredoura, the city's main street, and take in the vibrant local atmosphere
